 Vietnam’s New Year is celebrated according to the Lunar calendar. It is officially 
known as Tet Nguyen Dan, or Tet. It begins between late January and early February. The 
exact date changes from year to year. Vietnamese people usually make preparations for the 
holiday several weeks before. They tidy their houses, cook special food, clean and make 
offerings on the family altars. On the New Year’s Eve, people sit up to midnight to see the 
New Year in, then they put on new clothes and give one another the greetings of the 
season. The Tet lasts ten days. The first three days are the most important. Vietnamese 
people believe that how people act during those days will influence the whole year. As a 
result, they make every effort to avoid arguments and smile as much as possible.

 I live in Da Nang. It’s one of the biggest cities in my country. There are some nice 
beaches and a group of five mountains which is very famous for the magnificent caves 
inside. If you like swimming and sunbathing you can go to My Khe beach or Tien Sa

There are lots of hotels and guess houses. The food is so various that it can satisfy every

 Machu Picchu is ancient city in Peru. The construction of the city started in 1450. The city 
covers about 13 square kilometers. For centuries, the city was buried in the jungle and was not 
discovered until 1911. Today, Machu Picchu is one of the most famous tourist attractions in all 
parts of South American.
 The Great Wall of China is the longest man- made structure. It was built during the Ming 
dynasty in the late 1400s, although many parts of the wall are much older and go back to around 
200B.C. The wall is about 11 meters high. The main part of the wall stretches for about 3,400 
kilometers.
 Angkor Wat should be really known as a wonder because it is the largest temple in the 
world. The temple was built around the year 1100 to honor a Hindu God, but over the next three 
centuries it became a Buddhist religious center. The area surrounding the temple, Angkor Thom,
