 Mother’s day in Britain is the last Monday of March. On Mother’s Day, sons and daughters visit their mothers and bring them flowers and little presents. The eldest son must bring his mother a good cake. If sons or daughters cannot be with their mother on that day, they usually send her presents. Mother’s Day must be day of rest for the mother of the family, so the daughters cook dinner on that day and lay the table and the sons help to wash the plates and dishes after dinner.
 In the United States and Canada, Mother’s Day is the second Sunday in May. They have a very beautiful stamp for Mother’s Day in the United States. It shows the portrait of the mother of James Whistler, one of the greatest American painters.

Mai came here two years ago because she wanted to teach people about modern health care. She will be leaving in about two months. She wishes she could stay longer, but it's time for her to go home. Her work here has been very interesting. She is learning so much. She always wishes that there would be more hours in a day so that she could do more. Maybe it's silly, but she worries about what will happen to the villagers after she leaves. She wishes her stusents remembered all the things she has tried to teach them. She has become so close to the people here. She wishes she could take take them home with her. But of course that's impossible. She wishes more people joined the Peace Corps.
